A 1 mile open water swim in the dark on the full moon in August.

No RSVP is necessary, just show up….. with a smile on your face.

It's that time of year when insane people swim from La Jolla Cove to La Jolla Shores Beach in the dark, on the full moon in August.

Bring waterproof marker lights if you have some… and/or glow sticks.

We’ll probably have some glow sticks for people who don’t bring them.

Small lights attract sharks…. and big squid.

All the participants (victims) should meet on the deck near the lifeguard tower at La Jolla Cove at 8:45 for the safety briefing.  At 9 PM we will enter the water and swim toward the 3 bright lights (Shores Restaurant?) on La Jolla Shores Beach. The swim is slightly less than one mile.

There are showers (cold water) and restrooms at the Shores AND AT THE COVE.

Transportation back to the Cove is your responsibility. Swim, walk, skateboard, roller skate, bicycle, Uber, LYFT, leave a car over there, etc.

This is a great experience….if you make it. If you don’t, it’s not so good.

Feel free to invite your friends….if you have any. Or invite your enemies….

This swim is not for inexperienced swimmers.

There will be NO support people on the water, and there will be NO LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY.  You could get separated from the group and find yourself alone in the DARK water.  Do not do this swim unless you are a strong, confident, and fearless swimmer. 

You may wear fins, wetsuits, snorkels, or anything you wish.

The water temperature should be near 70, but some people may still want to wear a wetsuit….or chain mail.
